1 Corinthians 13:8a – Love never fails.

Love never fails. That is why at the end of chapter 13 it says, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” Love abides. It is permanent. Love is deathless. It is never defeated, never disillusioned, never disappointed. Love that is rooted in feelings burns like a consuming fire. That is the reason there are so many divorces today. Feelings change over time. This ‘feelings’ kind of love is not the kind of love that holds two hearts together. Love is eternal. It is permanent. God’s love is that kind of love. How wonderful that is! His love looks beyond the bounds of time and space and takes eternity in its embrace. Christ never ceased loving. You can’t do anything to keep Him from loving you. No sinner has committed an unpardonable sin. You may be in the state of unbelief, but He still loves you. You may have committed a great sin, but He still loves you. You cannot keep Him from loving you. You can put up an umbrella to keep yourself out of the rain, but you cannot stop the rain from falling. Neither can you stop God from loving you. Regardless of the umbrella of sin or unbelief that you are under. His love never fails.

Challenge:

When you look at your past, do you see more failures than you do victories? Do you find more mistakes than you do successes? This can become very discouraging. But the good news is, when everything else around you is failing, God’s love will never fail you. Isn’t that great to know? In a world where everyone around you has the potential to fail you. God’s love never fails. I challenge you this coming week to set your sights on God’s unfailing love for you. When your spouse fails to follow through with what they said they would do and you start to get upset at them, remember that God loves them too. His love never fails. When the person behind the counter fails to give you proper service, be reminded His love never fails. Even when there is not enough money in your bank account to pay all your bills, His love never fails. We can become so accustomed to failure that we may expect God to fail us at some point. He never will fail you because His love never fails. God is able to turn failure into triumph. Do you believe He is able? “Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes’ (Mark 9:23).” Will you believe? God bless you.
