Psalms 16:7-8 – I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

The key to understanding Psalm 16 is found in Acts 2:25-28 where Peter quotes verses 8-11 as referring to the Resurrection of Christ. We find Christ praising the Lord God for the faithful way He continually provided guidance and counsel throughout His life. Even during the many hours of sleeplessness, as He prayed and meditated on God’s Word, His heart had instinctively instructed Him. Far from being wasted, the time spent with God in prayer was a benefit to His comfort and blessing.

The world you live in, is filled with overwhelming distractions that can weigh you down. Making it very easy for you to feel defeated and unproductive. Your challenge this week is to put the Lord first, making Him a priority by blessing His name. Before you do anything else, take time to worship the Lord and get your focus on Him. This way everything else that is bringing you stress and discouragement will fade into the background and you will receive strength from knowing God is there with you.

Grace be with you,
