James 2:23 – And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.

This is a powerful picture of how you demonstrate your faith by your actions. The action of Abraham was that he believed God. Abraham’s faith caused him to lift a knife to do a thing which he did not believe God would ever ask him to do. But since God had asked him, he was willing to go through with it. Abraham truly believed that God would raise Isaac from the dead. Abraham never actually offered Isaac, because God provided a substitute, but he would have done it if God had not stopped him.

Challenge:

Do you believe God enough to follow through with everything He asks you to do, even if what He asks might go against what you want? I will put it another way, do you trust God with all of your possessions to the point that you believe He knows what is best to allow in your life and to remove out of your life? This week your challenge is to take a personal inventory of the people and things that take up the most of your time and have your highest priority. Make a list if you have to, but take note of the level of commitment you have toward the items on your list compared to your investment at growing in Christ. For instance, is there someone or something in your life that you have a hard time sacrificing time with when God asks you to? You see, knowing what those things are will help you effectively prioritize so that God become your primary focus.
