Philippians 3:17 – Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

Paul was such a strong example of a life living for Jesus Christ that he was confident of encouraging others to follow his lifestyle. The word pattern indicates “an exact representation of the original.” The example of Paul’s life is so evident that someone could obviously see it and use it as a pattern for living. How important it is for your spiritual growth to have examples of godly people in your life.

Challenge:

I want you to think about the three most positive examples you have in your life of godly living and what their influence has been upon you. Paul says in this weeks verse to “join in following” his life of following Jesus Christ. The challenge I have for you this week, as your Pastor, is to work on your example toward others around you. Be mindful of the way you respond to the circumstances throughout your day. Paul said to Timothy “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Be aware of the things you say to others and the way you say them, you must speak the truth, but speak it in love. Follow the pattern that Jesus Christ has set, that Paul has set, that your three personal examples have set and in turn you will become someone that others will want to follow as well.

Grace be with you,
