Matthew 8:26 – But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

Jesus has total authority over nature. This was proved as Jesus and His disciples started across the Sea of Galilee, a sea notorious for sudden storms that swept across it. However, in the midst of a furious storm Jesus fell asleep. The disciples, fearful of imminent death, awakened Jesus. First He rebuked them: “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then He rebuked the winds and the waves and there was absolute calm. His disciples who were seasoned fishermen had been through storms on this sea that had suddenly ceased. But after the wind would pass, the waves would continue to chop for a while. No wonder Matthew recorded their amazement as they wondered what kind of Man He is. They were amazed at the supernatural character of the One whose rebuke was sufficient to bring nature into perfect peace.

Challenge:

Just as Jesus brings nature into complete calm, He is also able to bring your life into perfect peace. However, you must have the faith that He can accomplish this for you. Jesus told the disciples they were going to the other side of the sea and they should have believed Jesus’ words. When Jesus tells you to do something, He will equip you to complete the task He has called you to. I have seen many creative ideas that the Lord has placed upon people’s hearts and how He has used the simplest of items to bless so many lives. Perhaps, the Lord will ask you to move to another state just so He can use your gifts and talents in the lives of those who live there? You must believe that He will be with you every step of the way. Maybe He has given you a vision to provide a service in your community that will not only bless your life but also the lives of those that will work with you and those that you will serve? God wants to touch the people that only you can reach. Are you willing to be used by the Lord in that way? Your challenge for this week is to listen for God’s instructions and then take immediate action based on His plan for you. Believe in your heart that if He tells you to “Go!” that He will make the way for you. Even if you encounter a storm or two along the way do not give up! May the Lord bless you and keep you.
