Exodus 14:13-14 – And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

At this particular point in history, Moses really had no idea how God would help them in their difficult situation. All he truly knew was that God certainly would help. In a sense, Moses knew he was in such a bad situation that God had to come through. When we see that our only help is God, we are more likely to put our trust in Him. When the children of Israel were pushed against the red sea, they started freaking out. Moses replied by saying “Do not be afraid!”, he was encouraging them to trust in the Lord, to place their faith in God, that He would deliver them and set them free. Moses told the people of Israel to STOP. This is often the Lord’s direction to us, in our times of crisis. Despair will cast you down, keeping you from standing. Fear will tell you to retreat. Impatience will tell you to do something now. Presumption will tell you to jump into the Red Sea before it is parted. Yet just as God told Israel, He often tells us to simply stand still and hold your peace as He reveals His plan. Moses didn’t know exactly what God would do. Yet he knew what the final result would be. He knew that God would save His people and that the enemies of the Lord would be destroyed. He could say to Israel, “the Lord will fight for you.”

Challenge:

Do you have the same level of confidence in God’s plan for your life, as Moses did for the children of Israel standing at the edge of the Red Sea? Have you been standing firm and watching for God’s saving grace in your situation? God has great things in store for those who belong to Him. He will not let you fall down so hard that you can’t get back up, and He won’t let you fail to the point of no return. I challenge you this week to have great confidence in the Lord’s coming deliverance, even when you are under seemingly impossible circumstances. Then share that confidence with others in your life, who need to hear the words “Do not be afraid, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” God will deliver all those that trust is in Him! (see Psalm 34:17) God bless you this week.
