John 16:13-14 – However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

The Holy Spirits job is to lead you in God’s truth and He will also help you keep that truth. Apart from the ministry of the Spirit, you will be in the dark when it comes to understanding the Word of God. It is He who must teach you and enable you to follow the Word and share it with others. The Holy Spirit works to glorify Christ, He does not draw attention to Himself.

Challenge:

The Holy Spirit will not force you to follow the truth of God’s Word He will graciously lead you, your job is to acknowledge Him and follow Him. Therefore, your challenge this week is to follow the Spirits leading as He guides you each day. Be sensitive to that still small voice as He speaks to you and gives you direction. When a verse comes to your mind, meditate on it for yourself and share it with others so they can be encouraged. When you sense the Spirit is placing an unrest in your heart, pay attention to the warning and be cautious in what you are doing. When the Spirit hinders you from the direction you want to take, watch for the way He is opening up for you. This is what walking in the Spirit is all about and this is why Jesus gave you the indwelling Spirit.
