Psalms 70:4 – Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”

The idea here is that when God comes to your rescue, this will result in a great wave of praise to Him. As you seek the Lord you will always find a reason to exult Him and to worship Him as the great God of your salvation. This is certainly what Job meant when he confidently said “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” You can always trust that God knows what He is doing. But even more, you should continually rejoice in Who God is. “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” Mary and Martha said to Jesus (John 11:3). Basically, their heart was saying, “Come quickly, Lord. Don’t delay. Come right away.” But Jesus didn’t come quickly. In fact, He waited four days. When He finally arrived, both Martha and Mary said to Him, “If only You had been here sooner, our brother wouldn’t have died.” Little did they know that a far greater miracle was about to unfold right before their eyes. Jesus brought Lazarus back from the dead and a greater witness went out as God was indeed magnified.

Challenge:

The word magnified means ‘to be great’ or ‘to make big’. When you truly realize that God is bigger and greater than anything that you are currently dealing with, only then, do your problems become less stressful and more tolerable. The truth is we all have to deal with the stresses of this life and to simply ignore those difficulties is unrealistic. But, to face each day, knowing that the Lord is by your side and that He is willing and able to fight your battles for you, is an assurance that will bring you a great amount of peace. Peter walked on water in the middle of a great storm, as long as he kept his eyes on his Savior. This week’s challenge for you, is to keep your eyes on Jesus and acknowledge the fact that God is much bigger than every situation you are currently facing. Repeat the words “Let my God be magnified” throughout your day, as you come against opposition, because this will remind you that He is right there with you. You will find, that every stressful situation and each  daily struggle will be comparatively smaller and less significant than the strength of your God. God bless you.
