Psalm 119:11 – Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Someone has wisely said, “The best book in the world is the Bible. The best place to put it is in the heart. The best reason for putting it there is that it saves us from sinning against God.” When the psalmist wrote, “Your word have I hidden in my heart,” he probably meant, “I obey it” more than he meant “I memorize it.” Obeying God’s word is the important thing and that is exactly what the psalmist means by hiding it in your heart.
Challenge:
Do you make it a regular practice to memorize scripture? Do you write bible verses on 3×5 cards and carry them with you so you can hide them in your heart? Just think how much your attitude would change if you made a habit out of memorizing bible verses each week! But even more than simply memorizing them, I encourage you to put into practice the verses you memorize. Your challenge this week is to commit this weeks verse to memory and then start the weekly habit of hiding His word in your heart and obeying the word. In this way you will be living out the word of God.
