Joshua 1:8 – This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

In order for you to enjoy prosperity and be successful in this life, the world would tell you that you have to work hard, focus on your goals and reach for the stars. There certainly is some truth to that, but in this week’s verse Joshua was told that success and prosperity came by him doing three things with regard to the Scriptures. First, The Law was not to depart from his mouth, in other words, he was to talk about and share God’s word. Second, he was to meditate on it day and night, to think about and consider what the word was saying to him. And finally, he was to do everything that was written in the word, to obey its commands fully and to do what the word instructed. Speak, think and walk then success was his. This is no different for today. If you will share the word with others, concentrate on the word for yourself and submit to the authority of the scriptures, you will find success as well. Perhaps not success according to the world’s standards, but certainly spiritual success which is far greater.

Challenge:

The word of God is powerful (Hebrews 4:12), and those who love the scriptures cannot get enough of the truth that is contained within its pages. How are you getting the word of God into your life? Are you reading the scriptures every day? Are you studying the word on a regular basis? You see if you do not actively pursue spending time in the bestselling book of all time, you will have a difficulty knowing what it says and the promises inside that are yours. Your challenge this week is to put into practice these same three things Joshua was asked to do, speaking the word with others, meditating on the word for yourself and following what the word is telling you to do. If you are the kind of person that has to plan every moment of your day, then add to your schedule time to be with God and His word. Otherwise you will have difficulty finding the extra time you need to be with the Lord. There is no such thing as making time, you must take time from something less important and dedicate that for the Lord. I promise you, as you do these three things and make them a habit for you, your week will be blessed, and your life will be successful. God bless you.
