1 Corinthians 10:12 – Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
The verse this week refers specifically to any strong believer who thinks he can toy with self-gratification and not be affected by it or come under its control. This type of person truly is in grave danger of coming under the correcting hand of God. It makes absolutely no difference who you are or how strong you think you are, you could very well fall today. It is very easy for any one of us to mess up and get tripped up and fall into sin. You may be a Christian of many years, a true saint, and you are still not immune to falling. Do you know of a Christian who you thought would never compromise their faith or harden their hearts towards God? Yet, that is exactly what ended happening to them. They thought they were incapable of falling and that is what allowed them to stumble. Therefore, you and I must be extremely careful that we remain in the will of God so we are in no way grieving the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Challenge:
How important it is to have a true grasp of your humanity when it comes to living for the Lord. God has given you everything you need to live a life of holiness and righteousness. But you must never take that fact for granted. God has certainly done His part, but you most assuredly must do your part as well. You cannot get yourself into heaven, God has taken care of that, but you can do everything in your power to live a life that rightly represents God and glorifies Him in the process. This week’s challenge is to never think you are in any way immune to sin and stay under the watchful care of the Holy Spirit as much as possible. Be sensitive to the Spirits convicting presence and carefully listen to His gentle warnings. When you have a hateful thought towards a friend, family member or neighbor, although you may be justified, immediately refuse to dwell on that thought and reject its wicked influence on your feelings or actions. Have you been complaining about where you are in this current season of your life? Thinking you would have been more successful in your business by now or that you would be living in a home rather than a small apartment by this time or been married to your soul mate at this stage in life. Rather than complain about these types of things, continue to pray that God would give you what He wants you to have when He wants you to have them. Be content where the Lord has you today and trust Him to bless you as He chooses. He knows what is best for you and for your life. May the Lord bless you always.
