John 8:32 – And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

This promise is made to every true disciple of Jesus Christ, that you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. The Jews did not know the truth, and they were in a terrible form of bondage. They were in the bondage of ignorance, error, sin, law, and superstition. Those who truly know the Lord Jesus are delivered from sin, they walk in the light, and are led by the Holy Spirit. If you fully grasp Jesus’ message, you will find true salvation. Knowing this salvation will liberate you from the bondage of sin, which is true and complete freedom. The truth that makes you free is that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He is the Truth. First you come to Him as your Savior. Then as you go on with Him, you know by experience that you are free. You are free from the penalty of sin, so you don’t need to lie awake at night worrying about going to hell. He simply asks you to trust Him and let Him live His life through you. When you yield to Him, you are free to rest in Him completely.

Challenge:

Today we celebrate, as a nation, the 4th of July, a holiday that honors the birth of this great nation as it declared independence from the British empire. I pray you have a safe and joyous holiday. A holiday that brings you precious quality time with your friends and family. Your challenge this week is to not only celebrate the freedoms you enjoy in this country, but more importantly the true freedom you have received through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. No matter how far this country removes itself from its faith in, and commitments made to Jesus by our founding fathers, you can rest assured in the fact that if Jesus has set you free, you truly are free indeed. No one on this planet can take that from you. Make every effort this week to show others your confidence in God and your dedication to remaining faithful to Jesus. No matter what happens in this life, God will carry you through. God bless you.
