Hebrews 11:30 – By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.

The walled city of Jericho was the first military objective in the conquest of Canaan. Reason would argue that such an impregnable fortress could be taken only by superior forces. But faith’s methods are different. God uses strategies that appear foolish to men in order to accomplish His purposes. He told the people to encircle the city for seven days. On the seventh day they were to march around it seven times. The priests were to give a loud blast on their trumpets, the people were to shout, and the walls would fall. Military experts would write off the method as ludicrous. But it worked! The people showed up and God showed off His power. Certainly, as the Israelites marched around the walls once a day for six days, the people in Jericho must have looked down on them and laughed. “That’s their army?” they must have mocked. “That’s their strategy?” On the seventh day, however, the impenetrable walls came down and they came down by faith.

Challenge:

Perhaps you are looking at a wall in your own life that seems impenetrable, a wall that appears as though it will never come down. The key isn’t counseling, dialoging, or role-playing. The key is faith. “But I’ve been marching around, working on, going through this situation for a long time,” you say. Good, because the longer the wall has been up between you and your spouse, you and your parents, or you and your children, the more you know that it cannot be brought down by your own effort. Walls come down when God shows up and when He moves in. But until God moves in, you’ll just be chipping away, and then frustration will fill your heart. Have faith in God, for when you finally realize that human skill or ability is insufficient, when you finally say, “Lord, if anything is going to happen, it’s going to be because of You,” that’s when the wall will finally fall. Your challenge this week is to have faith that God will take down the walls that are in your way. Faithfully march around your problems with the Lord right by your side. Remember 2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” God can do it. Believe that He will this week. God bless you.
