Ephesians 5:1-2 – Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Paul’s exhortation is for you to be an imitator of God. Be forgiving, be loving, be generous to one another. Children have the family likeness and should strive to uphold the family name just as you should represent your Heavenly Father to the world and seek to walk worthy of Him as His child. One way in which you should resemble the Lord is by walking in love. To walk in love means to give yourself for others just as Jesus did for you and for all. The evidence of Gods love is that He gave Himself for us in death on the cross at Calvary. Jesus pleased His Father by giving Himself for all. The lesson is that you too can bring joy to God by giving yourself for others.
Challenge:
Most people imitate someone they look up to or someone they want to be like. For instance, little boys imitate their fathers as they cut grass following behind them with their plastic lawnmowers. Little girls imitate their mothers and play dress up and put on makeup. Why? Because they look up to their parents and want to be just like them one day. The definition of an imitator is a person who copies the behavior or actions of another. If you look up to Jesus then you will want to copy His actions and behave just like He did when He walked on this earth. I challenge you to act just like the Lord and follow His ways. Remember, Jesus walked in obedience to His Father and did exactly what He said. What is God telling you to do that you have been putting off? Be obedient and begin to do what He has asked you to do. Jesus was in constant communication with God as He prayed every single day of His life. What prayer have you delayed praying for simply because you don’t think God will answer you? Ask Him today and believe that He will do the impossible for you. Be an imitator and be well pleasing to Him. God bless you.
