He Is Faithful

1 Thessalonians 5:24 – He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

The same God who calls you into His family will provide what you need to continue in His family by the Holy Spirit who indwells in you. God is faithful to bring to completion the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”). God does not save a person by grace and then leave him alone to work out his Christian growth by works (Galatians 3:3 “Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?”). As God calls and justifies by grace, He sanctifies by grace as well. You can depend upon and rely on God. This prayer that Paul offers is based on God’s character. God is trustworthy in every respect and so all believers are secure in Him. You can have total confidence, because your hope does not rest on your own efforts to live up to God’s standards, but on the faithfulness of God, who never fails to fulfill His promises or to keep His covenant. In other words, it is not your feeble hold of God that makes you secure, but God’s strong hold of you. That is why your hope is not in vain. Your certainty is wrapped up in God, who will complete what He has begun. Your sanctification and preservation are guaranteed in Him.

Challenge:

I was praying the other day, and asking God to use our church to impact the lives in our church, our community and our world. I began to read the 5th chapter of 1 Thessalonians and as I came across verse 24, I felt the Lord speak to my heart. He reminded me of His unwavering faithfulness. He has always been faithful, and He always will be faithful, because that is who He is. Life does not always go the way we had planned it. There will always be setbacks and challenges we will have to face. But that truth does not change the fact that God is faithful. His will for this world, for my life and for your life, will come to pass no matter what we do or what we may not do. God is not reliant upon us. Say it with me, “Thank God for that!” I challenge you this week to completely rest in the faithfulness of the Lord and trust Him to accomplish His will for you. Whether you have a good day or a bad day, trust Him. Whether circumstances turn out your way or everything falls apart, trust His faithfulness to work all things out for good. Remind yourself again and again this week that “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” God bless you.

Have a Christ centered week,
