Psalm 91:14 – Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

The verb used in this verse for the word love is not the usual Hebrew word for love. It has more of the sense of “holding close to” and “hugging tightly in love.” The things in your life that you love the most you want to hold onto the most. The words He has known My name speaks of an intimate, experiential knowledge of God the Father. When you abide and dwell in the Lord you will not only be provided for and protected currently, but you have a wonderful destiny assured for you eternally. This knowledge will bring you peace and comfort in this life because you understand your final resting place will be with Him in heaven.

Challenge:

Think, for a minute, about how much you are loved by your parents or by your spouse or by your friends. Those you mean the most to will naturally care for you and provide for your needs and desires because they love you and want the best for you. Are you thankful for these people in your life that love you most? In the same way, your true and genuine love for God will place you in a position to be cared for by Him. In fact, there is nothing that you can do to stop or lessen the love God has for you. However, He sure does enjoy being acknowledged and appreciated by you. Your challenge this week is to take a bold step of faith and show your love for God by doing things for others that will bless the Lords heart. We live in a world where most people are more concerned about their own needs than in the needs of others. This week, help someone load their groceries into their car. Think about holding the door open for a total stranger when going into or out of the mall. Call an old friend and see how they are doing and pray for them right then. By serving others you will be serving God and showing Him how much you love Him and are thankful for His hand in your life. May the Lord bless you.
