1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

When thinking about these facts, the truth of your eternity with the Lord, the thought that Jesus went to the cross willingly for you, the idea that what you do on this earth will determine your heavenly blessings, Paul says, “Work for the Lord so that your labor will not be in vain.” Much of what you do in life with your time, energy, and money is in vain because it is going to fall apart, pass away, or break down. But what you do for God, by worshipping Him, by working for Him and by the gifts you bring Him, will not be in any way in vain. Because we know death is defeated and we have an eternal, resurrected destiny with Jesus Christ, we should stand firm and unshakable all the more for Him right now. We should work hard in everything now, working for the Lord, because right now counts forever!

Challenge:

The great news is that God does not pay you for the results of your labors but for the efforts of your labors. This week your challenge is to abound in the work of the Lord. This does not mean that you are to do a whole bunch of activity, we are all busy enough, but rather to simply give God your best efforts each day. Just go about your everyday as you usually would, but be sure to look for those godly opportunities to serve the Lord by loving and blessing others. Put your phone down a little more this week, and pay attention to the individuals around you. Substitute the time you normally spend on YouTube or Netflix, and instead, pray for your neighbors or co-workers. From time to time, turn the radio off in your car, and let God fill your mind with His desires and His will. Go ahead, give God your best efforts and some more of your time spent on yourself. May the Lord bless your week.
