John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Happy Valentine’s Day. I thought this would be a good verse to look at this week. Never forget how much Jesus loves you and how He showed that love to you by dying for your sins. The Apostle John reminds us in 1 John 4:19-20 “We love Him because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” So, you love others, because God first poured out His love upon you. Therefore, you are to be loving to the world around you. This kind of love cannot be accomplished in your own ability or strength, you need the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reminds you to love others, not because they deserve your love, but rather because that is what God wants you to do. Remember, He loves you, not because you deserve His love, but because that is who He is. God is love.
Challenge:
Your challenge this week, not just today on Valentine’s Day, is to show others how much you love them. Share the love of Jesus with those around you in simple and practical ways. Love is not something that is bought from a store, it is something that comes from a heart that has been eternally changed by God. Remember, the world will know you belong to God by your love for others. So, compliment a coworker on how much you appreciate them being on your team. Hug a friend and tell them you love them for just bring your friend. Tell your spouse you love them, not only because it is Valentine’s Day, but because they are God’s gift to you. May God give you the eyes to see all the ways to share His love and the will to follow through in actions. In this way, you will be living the everlasting life Jesus died for.
Grace be with you,
