Proverbs 18:10 – The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

This verse speaks of security and reminds you that no one can pluck you out of the Lords hands. “The name of the LORD” stands for the Lord Jesus Himself. The Lord is called a place of refuge and protection for those who trust in Him. Therefore, in the moment of strong temptation, you must call upon the name of Jesus, and He will help keep you from sinning. By putting your trust in Him you are as safe as a person hiding from the enemy in a strong tower.

Challenge:

Do you have a place on this earth that you can go and find protection? Your walled subdivision, your home behind bolted doors or perhaps the local police station? These places can only provide temporary relief to fear and stress from this world. There is a place that you can go to find true safety. This place does not have a physical address because this place is found in the presence of the Lord Jesus. Notice that the verse states this is a place you must ‘run to’ when you find yourself in times of immediate need. Your challenge this week is to remain in the safety of the Lords presence. When you find yourself getting fearful, cling to the Lord in prayer and receive peace. If you find yourself searching for direction, draw near to the Lord through His word and listen for your answer. When the stresses of life pile up on you and overwhelm you, take a walk with a faithful friend and let them encourage you and pray for you. Run toward God this week and embrace His strength. Have a safe and Happy New Year. May God bless you in this coming new year.
