Psalm 37:3-5 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Trusting in the Lord does not mean an unfounded, breezy optimism that everything will turn out right. Instead, it means a deep, abiding reliance on the God who has promised to punish the ungodly and to reward the righteous. His Word can never fail. Augustine was asked how to discern God’s will, so he answered, “Love God with all your heart and do whatever you want.” That is because if you love the Lord with all of your heart, you will automatically be in His will because you will want to please Him above anything else. Suppose you have had a great desires to carry on a certain activity for the Lord. You feel confident that He has been leading you, and your only desire is to glorify Him. Yet a powerful adversary has opposed, blocked, and prevented you at every bend in the road. What do you do in a case like this? The answer is that you delight yourself also in the Lord, knowing that in His own time He shall give you the desires of your heart. It is not necessary for you to fight back. “The battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chron. 20:15).

Challenge:

Perhaps you have been misquoted, falsely accused or slandered. What should you do? Commit the entire matter to the Lord. The word “commit” is literally to “roll.” Your challenge this week is to roll all of your questions, concerns and problems onto the Lord and let Him work them out for you. Give them to Him and leave them in His hands. Do not try to take them back, or try to help, trust them to Him who is faithful to work all things out for the good for those who love Him. When you become tempted to take matters back into your own hands, that is the exact moment you must trust in Him. When God works on your behalf, He does a much better job than you could ever perform. Remember, His ways are so much better than your ways. He may not be moving as fast as you would like Him to be, but He is at work, behind the scenes nonetheless. You can be certain of that fact. Practice this week, to cast all of your cares upon Him, because He truly does care for you. Have a wonderful and blessed week.
