James 3:10 – Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

How inconsistent it is to use your tongue for both good and evil purposes. One minute you bless God with your tongue, the next you curse those who are made in the image of God. The tongue that blesses God should help others instead of wounding them. All that you say should be subject to three tests. Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? Constantly you should pray that the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart might be acceptable to God – Psalm 19:14.

Challenge:

Your challenge this week is to speak only what will encourage and lift others up. Refrain from saying anything that will harm or hurt someone else. Hold your tongue until you find a positive way to communicate the same thing so that it will bless who you are speaking to. Jesus had a wonderful way of speaking the truth in a loving way that brought His hearers to the place of understanding their position and need for a Savior. With His help you can do the very same thing. God bless your week.

Grace be with you,
