Acts 11:22-24 – Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
When news of great spiritual awakening reached the church in Jerusalem, it was decided to send warm-hearted and kind Barnabas to Antioch. This anointed man saw right away, that the Lord was working mightily among these Gentiles, so he encouraged them to continue with the Lord with great determination. How wonderful it was that this new church should be visited by such a powerful man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith! While he was there, a great many people came to know the Lord as their Savior. It is important that others be able to see the grace of God among Christians. They should not see an emphasis on self, on man-made rules, on human performance; but on the glorious grace of God.
Challenge:
How very important it is to have people in your life that will consistently inspire you to continue growing in the Lord and in your relationship with Him. Equally important is for you to inspire others to remain faithful to God. Your challenge this week is to encourage people each day in their walk with Jesus. Let them know how proud you are of them, share a scripture that has impacted your life in a powerful way, let them know that you have been praying for them or ask them how you can be praying for them this week. Be an encourager this week and be a blessing to many.
