Acts 27:33-35 – And as day was about to dawn, Paul implored them all to take food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day you have waited and continued without food, and eaten nothing. Therefore I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you.” And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat.
I encourage you to read this entire chapter. Paul and his companions find themselves in rough seas for many days. Thinking all is lost they crew panics and starts to make drastic measures to save themselves. Does this sound familiar to you? Do you, at times, panic and try to fix things in your own strength? Silly question right? You see, Paul did not panic, he sought the Lord and found comfort. He was then able to comfort the others on the ship. The one thing I want you to notice is how Paul was thankful to God for His protection BEFORE the Lord brought deliverance. Oh that we too would be thankful before God does anything for us.
Challenge:
Would you say you are a consistently thankful person? Do you find yourself thankful only when things go your way or you get what you want in the way you want? Being thankful in EVERY situation is not easy for anyone. This weeks challenge is for you to be more thankful for the situations you find yourself in each day. Even the things you would normally not be so thankful for. Change your perspective on the way you look at life and show gratitude.
