1 Corinthians 13:1-3 – Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

In God’s eyes and heart, love is everything and love must be the first thing you show to others. All else pales by comparison to the importance and necessity of love. The bible tells us in Proverbs 10:12 that “love covers ALL sins.” Jesus came to save you because God loves you and He died on the cross because He loves you. In verse 8 of 1 Corinthians 13 Paul states that “Love NEVER fails.” That is, God’s love never fails, whereas man’s love can fail, God’s love will never let you down or disappoint.

Challenge:

Loving the way the bible instructs, starts with you choosing to die to yourself and to your desires. There are many good things you can do for the Lord and for others, but if you lack loving motivation, God says that your efforts amount to nothing. Your challenge for this week is to make sure you are coming from a position of love in everything you do. There is a lot of good that needs to be done in the world, make sure you do your good with a loving heart, so there will be much eternal value.
