Galatians 5:13 – For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Your Christian liberty does not permit you to sin; but rather encourages you to loving service. Love should be seen as the motive of all your behavior, whereas under law, the motive was fear of punishment. Your freedom is in Christ Jesus, and this excludes any possible thought that it might ever mean freedom to sin. Just as an invading army will seek to gain a beachhead and use it as a base of operations for further conquest, so the flesh will utilize a little license to expand its territory. A proper outlet for your freedom is this: “Make it a habit to serve one to another.”
Challenge:
Serving one another through love means pouring yourself into others. Get involved in talking to people who are struggling. You will find that talking to them about eternal issues will be more exciting and thrilling than anything you have ever done. Your challenge is to find something unexpected to do for someone each day of this week. Bring your boss a cup of coffee or iced tea. Carry a coworkers heavy briefcase into the office for them. Have your wife’s car washed for her or help her make dinner one night. When you have lunch with a friend, be sure to pray for them before you leave the table. Have fun finding ways to love on others this week. God bless.
