Acts 17:28 – for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
Todays verse brings you an amazing reminder, that in ALL that you are, can be found securely in Him. Paul does not call them ‘sons of God’ but the ‘offspring of God’. He is referring to creation and the relationship to God through creation. He says that in God we live and move and have our being. Paul also affirmed that God made the world, that God gave all people life, that God controlled the nations, and that God revealed Himself to mankind so that people would seek Him. Paul quoted “For in Him we live and move and have our being” from Epimenides, the Cretan poet, and “We are His offspring” from the poet Aratus, who was from Paul’s homeland Cilicia. Pauls point was that, All people, Athenians along with all others, are God’s offspring, not in the sense that they are all His redeemed children or in the sense that they all possess an element of deity, but in the sense that they are created by God and receive their very life and breath from Him. All of us have been created in God’s image.
Challenge:
Being created in God’s image is great to consider, however, this does not mean we automatically act in the ways God created us to act. For that to happen, we need to be redeemed by the blood of Jesus and receive the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit. We all know the saying “What Would Jesus Do?”, and this is a great question to ask ourselves when we find ourselves wondering how we should respond to a certain situation. The best way to know exactly what Jesus would do in any given circumstance, is to actually know Jesus personally as much as possible. I challenge you this week to live for Jesus, move with Jesus and be all that Jesus designed you to be. Think about on this verse each morning, then ask God to guide you throughout your day. When a question comes up, that you don’t know how to answer, ask God to show you the solution. When a decision is before you that you are having trouble deciding on, ask God to reveal to you what the best choice is. Purpose in your heart to move the way Jesus would move and live the way Jesus lived. God bless you.
