2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

God is long–suffering, He is patient and He in no way rushes anything. He does not have to be concerned with time! To Him a thousand years is as one day and one day is as a thousand years. The point is that the final judgment, the end of the earth and the heavens, is coming. In the meantime, He is giving everyone the opportunity to repent and turn to Himself. This is the reason you and I need to get the Word of God out. It is the only thing that can change hearts and lives. It is not God’s will that you or anyone else should perish. You can turn to Him at all times and receive the wonderful salvation that He has for you. Do you know that you cannot keep God from loving you? You can reject His love, but you cannot keep Him from loving you. My friend, there is absolutely nothing you can do to keep Him from wanting to save you. You cannot keep Him from loving you, for He provided a Savior, His own Son, to die in your place. The Lord Jesus will save you if you will receive the salvation He offers. This world is coming to an end, and judgment will come. You and I are living in a world which is moving toward judgment and only Jesus can save you from that judgement.

Challenge:

Repentance means to change your mind about sin and about God. God wishes that all would come to the place of repentance, literally the place of changing there minds about Him. Only by changing your mind and looking to God will you find the true forgiveness for all your sins. Just as Moses told the children of Israel if they got bitten by a poisonous snake they were to look at the bronze snake upon a pole and they would not die! (Numbers 21:8-9) Can you imagine this scene for a moment? If you had been there and Moses said all you have to do is look at this snake and you will live. What would your initial response have been? “This sounds crazy! Just look at the snake and I would live, that it? Thats all I have to do?” Moses would say to you, “That is all you must do.” Well, it is that same thing for you today. When poisonous sin has bitten you, just look to Jesus and your sin is forgiven. Be challenged this week to change your mind about your sin and look to Jesus to save you from your sin. When you find yourself getting angry at someone, change your mind and look to Jesus so you can see that person as He sees them. When you are feeling defeated and unworthy, change your mind and look to God so He can let you know how much He loves you. When temptation comes knocking on the door of your heart, change you mind and look to Jesus for the strength to resist that temptation. May Gods grace be with you as you turn to Him.
