April 10

Psalm 84:10-11 – For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.

This is the observation of a wise and righteous person; time after time, God gives good gifts to His people. Consider this, if something is good for you, He won’t withhold it; if He withholds it, then it isn’t good for you. There is no comparison to what heaven will be like compared to here on earth. You simply cannot conceive the glory, the joy, the beauty, the freedom of being where Jesus is. And it’s a good thing you can’t because you would probably be even more unhappy to remain here and do the work God has for you to do. As Spurgeon rightly said, “God’s worst is better than the devil’s best.” Note the contrast between the house of God and the tents of wickedness, one is a permanent dwelling and the other is temporal.

Challenge:

Have you found that God gives you only good things? The Bible tells you in James 1:17 – “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” Your challenge this week is to enjoy the good things God has given to you. As I sit here this morning and write this challenge, I can feel a cool breeze and I can see the sun shinning and I can hear the birds singing. I am grateful for the good things God has given to me today. Be reminded of the many blessings that are in your life and thank the Lord for each and every one of them. Better is every moment thanking and worshipping the Lord. God bless you today.
