Isaiah 38:3 – “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Hezekiah was sick and near death and this prayer to the Lord by Hezekiah added 15 more years to his life! Oh, that our prayers would be this effective and this powerful. Hezekiah lived a life that honored the Lord in every way. He is spoken of as a great and good king with a wonderful character that followed in his grandfather Uzziah’s example. His name means “Whom Jehovah has strengthened.” God gave Hezekiah the strength to live his life in a righteous and holy way. Hezekiah was responsible for removing idol worship from his kingdom.

Challenge:

You are a child of God and through Jesus Christ you have His strength to do the very same thing! You can pray this kind of prayer and you can be confident that the Holy Spirit will lead you in truth, having given you a new heart that is seeking after His own heart. My challenge for you this week, as your Pastor, is to look for the idol’s in your life and take them down and get them out of your life. An idol is not simply a carved image, an idol is anything that takes the place of God or hinders you from worshipping God. What are the things or activities that consume most of your time during the day? Wether at the workplace, at home or at school be sure to take time to invite the Lord into your day through prayer and thanksgiving for Who Jesus is in your life. By doing this you will be assured of living before God in truth. God bless your week.
