Psalm 56:11 – In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
David knew that God had rescued him from death previously. Therefore, he was confident that God would rescue him from his situation presently. We can say the same thing, because God has rescued us from eternal death. Therefore, you can have the confidence that He will carry you through and do what is best for you. Just as it says in Romans 8:32 – “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” If God did not spare His Son to rescue you from eternal death, then you must know He is always going to give you whatever it is that you need. God is not mad at you nor is He against you. He’s for totally you. He proved it on the Cross at Calvary. For that reason, be confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6. God finishes what He starts. He does not abandon any of His works in progress. You can put your complete trust in Him and never be afraid of what man may do to you.
Challenge:
In this weeks verse, David makes a very bold statement. His trust was in God and not in man. Can you proclaim that you have placed your complete trust in the Lord? When you are fully trusting in God, you do not have to be afraid. When you begin to sense that fear is coming over you, that is the moment when you must remind yourself of your commitment to trust in God. I challenge you this week, when things become overwhelming, to place your full trust in the Lord. The moment you think that you will not have enough money to pay your bills, think of all the many times in your past that your needs have been met. Don’t be afraid! When you receive bad news about a family member or dear friend, think about the fact that God already knew this would happen and that He definitely has a plan. Don’t be afraid! Life is so much better when you walk by faith rather than being consumed with fear. God is faithful, He is in control, and He is not done with transforming you into His likeness. May God’s blessings be with you.
