Romans 14:13 – Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

Rather than sitting in judgment of your fellow Christians in matters of moral indifference, you should resolve that you will never do anything to hinder a fellow believer in their spiritual progress. None of these nonessential matters is important enough for you to cause anyone to stumble or fall. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus helps you understand what this means – it means judging others according to a standard that you would not want to have applied to yourself. When you admonish or rebuke, you should do it over clear Scriptural principles, not over unimportant things. You may offer advice to others about such things, but you should never judge them.

Challenge:

Could your legalism be causing others to stumble by making them feel condemned, held down or beaten up? Is it possible that your liberty is causing others to stumble as they follow you to their own detriment? Your lifestyle should be leading others closer to the truth and closer to the Lord. Your challenge this week is to act in such a way that you are drawing others into a more intimate relationship to God. When you pray for someone do they experience the power of the Holy Spirit flowing through you? Would you say your conversations with others are encouraging and uplifting or do you put people down and speak critical of others? Don’t do anything that would cause someone to think negatively toward God but rather be the one who reminds them of the goodness of Lord. God bless you this week and please keep our Mexico Missionaries in your prayers.
