Psalm 44:20-21 – If we had forgotten the name of our God, Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god, Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
God knows your innermost thoughts and ultimate motives. He knows when your worship is genuine and directed towards Him or empty and towards other things. To stretch out your hands to a foreign god is to worship something or someone other than the Lord God. The bible calls this idolatry. God is aware of everything in your heart, nothing escapes His awareness. This can be a good thing if your intensions are right, but a hard thing if your intensions are evil.
Challenge:
I find it strange when I try to hide something from God. As if I can conceal anything from the Lords eye. He sees everything, He hears everything and He knows everything. What can I hide from Him? NOTHING! Are you like me? Do you try to hide things from God? Listen, at times, we have good intensions. Trying in our own strength to be better Christians, trying to correct the error of our ways. But at other times, we are simply fooling ourselves. Believing we can cover over our sin or worse, thinking we can remove our sin ourselves. Your challenge this week is to share the secrets of your heart with the Lord. He already knows what those things are anyway, so you may as well bring them to Him anyway. By doing this you will invite God to direct your heart according to His will and help you worship Him alone.
