1 John 5:11 – And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

The gospel stated in the simplest of words, God gave all people eternal life, and that life is only found in Jesus Christ His Son. The greatest of gifts ever given to anyone for all of history is God’s gift of eternal life to those who will believe in His Son Jesus. Mankind may take part in producing the physical life of a human being, but only God can graciously give eternal life to men and women of faith. No matter how much you may love on your children, your love for them cannot in anyway extend their lives for one single second. But God’s amazing love is capable of extending your life through all of eternity with Him. The Apostle John points his readers to the source of everlasting life that is available to them. The source is not some secret for man to figure out on their own. Rather, the source is openly displayed in the Son of God who willingly died on behalf of all sinners for all time. For you to have the life He desires you to have, you must come to Him.

Challenge:

Do you have eternal life through faith in the Son of God? Have you surrendered yourself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ? However you answered those two questions, your challenge for this week is to open the gift of the Savior this Christmas. For some of you, this will be a reminder of the gift of life He has already given to you. For others, this will be the very first time for you to accept His gift and begin to live for the Lord. The gift of God is as new today as it was on that very first Christmas when Jesus came into this world as a baby born in a manger. As Isaiah said, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given.” Truly this is the Gift that keeps on giving and giving and giving. Jesus will always be there for you in your time of need. He will be your source of strength when you find yourself getting weak. He will heal your broken heart and guide you, so you will fulfill His will for your life. How wonderful is the gift of God through Jesus Christ? This Christmas, and everyday, be thankful for having a God who loves you so very much. May your Christmas be exceedingly blessed. God bless you.
